Same Studio. New Mindset.

Paperfig is a independent coffee shop located on the shoreline of Portstewart on the North Coast of Northern Ireland. The coffee shop, taking it's name from the Paper Fig shell, aims to provide top quality food in a friendly and inviting atmosphere.

Besides the inescapable nautical themes, we also had to consider the terracotta colour that was a fixed part of the building. The client had inherited the red 'sail' and wasn't keen to retain it but with our clients start up budget in mind we decided to try and integrate the colour into the brand and make it a part of it. We colour picked the colour and worked it into the branding and offset it against a deep nautical navy blue. We brought a personality to the brand by bringing some hand drawn illustration into the branding. The paper fig shell didn't create the visual impact that would have been desired for the brand so we and so we made the decision to put an Octopus front and centre, bearing in mind the visual impact this would make along the shore line.
